Patrice Colin is the eighth generation at this domaine, which dates back to 1735, and his son Pierre François and son-in-law Florian, at 25 and 30 years old, are bringing youthful energy to the ninth. They work organically, with low sulfur and indigenous yeasts in the cellar. They produce wines that are fresh and clean, with complex aromas of red fruits and spices.
The AOP of Côteaux du Vendômois was officially formed in 2001, but the history of wine production goes back as far as the 11th century. There is a large cooperative producing 60% of total AOP production and only 13 private producers in the appellation. At Domaine Colin, this is 100% Pineau d’Aunis from vines planted between 1890 and 1920 on flinty clay soil. The grapes are harvested at the end of October. Fermented and aged for 2 months in both stainless steel tanks and barrels. 12.8% alcohol.
