Farming 50 hectares of vines in the prime Rioja villages of San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Labastida, the Peciña family was at the vanguard of the renewed interest in traditionally elaborated Rioja wines back in the mid 2000s. They continue in that vein, using exclusively American oak barrels for several years and manually hand-racking their barrel aged wines twice a year. This bottling comes from one of their prized single vineyards, Finca Iscorta, and reflects the incredible 2010 vintage in San Vicente as well as the impressive terroir of the vineyard: savory, iron tinged dark fruit aromas lead to a big, meaty Rioja, built for the long haul to be sure.
